As plumbing is integrally linked with the Building and Construction Industry, there is a continuous demand for qualified Plumbers and associated Apprenticeship opportunities.
Plumbing businesses in South Australia consist of large, medium and small companies, although the majority of Plumbing businesses are made up of smaller companies.
As proprietors of these small companies move towards management or to retirement, opportunities for already qualified Tradespeople will be presented for business acquisition and management, thus opening up positions for apprenticeship entry into the industry.
While the type of work in the Plumbing Industry retains much of its traditional character, its contemporary face is being influenced by mechanisation, new technologies and materials.
With the increasing focus on water resources at both domestic and industry levels, significant opportunities are emerging in Plumbing to address “green” / sustainable technologies in managing water, requiring new skills and knowledge in addition to those traditionally associated with the Plumbing Industry.
Students who successfully complete units of competency in this Qualification will be eligible to apply for credit through other RTO's delivering Certificate II and Certificate III Construction Training Package courses.
SPECIALISATIONS
With further training and experience, plumbers can become technical and sales representatives, building supervisors, building and construction managers, plumbing inspectors, hydraulics consultants, technical teachers, estimators, building contract administrators, purchasing officers or start their own business.
